Mission

The Mission of the Santa Clara County Sub Camp Staff is to provide for the participants of the 100 Year Anniversary Norcal Jamboree, an outstanding experience, while showcasing Scouting’s past, present, and future, in a safe enjoyable, and educational environment, utilizing Scouting’s leadership and values.
Roles and Responsibilities of Administration Group
  • Promotion & Recruitment – keeping track the target of 1700 participants for SCCC.
  • Establish a project plan in preparing for subcamp operations.
  • Keep track of registration/check-in process.
  • Familiar with the check-in website and its updates.
  • Schedule staff meeting within subcamp (before, during and after the event).
  • Provide a hospitality center and maintain subcamp records. -Center of information.
  • Provide inter-camp communications as a liaison between the sub camps and the commissioner service.
  • Communications to troops and staff in the subcamp.
  • Work with Activities to create a subcamp scheduler.
Roles and Responsibilities of Facilities Group
  • Promote and Recruit the event – keeping track the target of 1700 participants for SCCC.
  • Marking and numbering of the campsites -use “chalking” machines and white flour.
  • Identify infrastructures (water, electricity, latrines…) at the subcamp.
  • Identify traffic flow in the subcamp.
  • Coordinate the setup of a subcamp gateway.
  • Establish an eating place for staff.
  • Inform rules from Alameda County Fairground to participants.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the subcamp.
Roles and Responsibilities of Support Group
  • Promote and Recruit the event – keeping track the target of 1700 participants for SCCC.
  • Coordinate the distribution of food.
  • Operate a dining facility for the subcamp staff.
  • Supervise a youth staff as a service corps.
  • Subcamp staff will act as “duty officers” 24/7 during the jamboree to handle problems and questions.
  • Act as traffic control/parking group in the subcamp.
  • Ensure the logistics team has a plan to provide enough water and portable toilets to the camps.
  • Create a check-in list – escort troops to camp sites.
  • Create a check-out/camp inspection sheet.
Roles and Responsibilities of Commissioner Group
  • Promote and Recruit the event – keeping track the target of 1700 participants for SCCC.
  • Communicate the resources available to participants in troops.
  • Determine the needs of participants.
  • Secure the assistance of the supporting services to meet the needs of participants.
  • Ensure quality program and personal health and safety.
  • There will be 4 assistant subcamp commissioners – one from each SCCC districts.
  • Help to mobilize/assemble the subcamp.
  • Provide historical display for 100 year anniversary.
Roles and Responsibilities of Risk Management Group
  • Promote and Recruit the event – keeping track the target of 1700 participants for SCCC.
  • Provide guidance and direction regarding risk assessment and hazard analysis of jamboree activities by identifying and analyzing hazards associated with program activities.
  • Establish emergency procedure for troop in the subcamp.
  • Have a emergency contingency plan for the subcamp.
  • Work with Sub camp director in case of serious infractions at the camp.
  • Enforce public health standards within the subcamp.
  • First-aids station for the subcamp.
  • In charge of health and safety for the subcamp.
